He's named Monkberry Moon for the Paul McCartney song, but we call him "Duff" or "Duffman." He's never leaving Lofty Hearth.

Duff comes from a powerful milky background and we brought him in as a foundation boy in our quest to meld elegant conformation with superior milk production. Duff's granddam SuperLois made ADGA’s Elite Doe list in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 - nine years running! I chose him as a buckling out of Lois's daughter Pixy because of her terrific udder and teats, which help Duff produce easy-handmilking daughters. Lois peaked at 1,640lb of milk during her sixth lactation, while Pixy earned her Superior Genetics designation as just a second freshener.

His grandsire SG Sugar Moon High Roller is the highest-living PTA buck at the time of this writing and is the sire of many notable milk producers and elite or top ten animals. High Roller is the full brother of ELITE SG Sugar Moon V Zuzanna 4*M, the all-time Nigerian milk production record holder. These are some milk chops.

Even though he was brought in for milk, we love his conformation. He is level and uphill, with lovely pasterns, good angulation and nearly perpendicular from hocks to pasterns, sharp withers, tightly attached shoulder blades, wide nostrils, and a nice wedge-y dairy body. And we do see many improvements in his offspring! They are strong, dairy, and deep. He throws beautiful faces, dairy skin, and pretty udders with improved medial suspensory ligaments and nice plumb teats. Four of his girls were retained to join the herd in 2024, so we hope to earn him his +B next summer.
