Frank came to us as something of a surprise/miracle. His dam, Savannah, was an ADGA Spotlight Sale doe in 2022, but she had to be scratched at the last minute for an illegible tattoo. Our wonderful colleagues - longtime Alpine breeder Phil at Chateau Briant and ADGA director Tom Cox - wound up purchasing her and we in turn purchased Frank out of her first breeding in 2024. â€‹â€‹â€‹

Frank is from legendary lines. Nodaway has bred French Alpines for over 30 years and are notable for their huge, productive, extremely deep and dairy does, a style we are aiming for in our own breeding program. These lines are getting a bit hard to find, so we feel very fortunate to have Frank here with us. His dam Savannah is doing around 12 pounds a day as a first freshener.

His sire Berkeley is out of Pleasant-Grove Super Saga ++*B VEE 90 who should need little introduction for most Alpine breeders. Saga has had a massive influence on the breed with his consistent and productive offspring. Berkeley's permanent champion dam Bathsheba appraised 92 EEEE - a third generation 92! - and her top milk record was over 3,000 pounds.

Also notable in Frank's pedigree is Nodaway Collins Natasha VEEE 91 who milked 8,750 pounds over a 1,170 day extended lactation with an average of 3.8% butterfat. Frank himself is in his lanky phase, but has great structural traits including a long level rump, very strong feet and legs, and a lovely general appearance. We are beyond excited to see what he can do with our French does.

(Lisztomania is a term coined in the 19th century for intense fan hysteria displayed toward composer Franz Liszt. That's why we call him "Frank.")
